Gratitude: Daddy getting transferred to a step-down facility in Winchester. Getting stitches removed from gums. The Peaks: Turner was up early to practice his recorder on the porch, and he ended up passing his “Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star” test today.

Gratitude: Papaw being able to sit up in the “turtle shell” body cast. The Peaks: I visited Vanderbilt today and, for the first time since Saturday, was able to talk with my dad. He was awake and was getting ready
